A rare and utterly romantic 1930s silk dress in an extraordinary raspberry-magenta hue, with the most beautiful softly faded, painterly quality to the hand-dyed color.

The delicate bodice is beautifully worked with fine pleating and tiny covered buttons, while the gently gathered shoulders and fluid, bias-like fall of the silk create an incredibly elegant silhouette. The skirt extends to an impressive 58" length, pooling into a graceful, almost liquid line when worn.

The color is what makes this one unforgettable — deep raspberry, crushed rose and bougainvillea, changing subtly in the light.

It feels like something from another life: a woman dressing for a summer evening in the 1930s, silk against bare skin, perhaps a little perfume at her wrists, and nowhere particularly urgent to be.
